Our resident hawk knows how to cool down on a hot day. We’ve had temperatures in the nineties nine out of the last ten days. Humid, too. Heat indices 100 degrees plus.

Wow! Outstanding photo!!
Jon has been refilling our birdbath daily – sometimes twice a day. It’s getting a lot of use and evaporation.

Oh wow, never seen a hawk bathe in a birdbath…this is a new favorite of mine! We broke a record yesterday 104 degrees and w/ the heat index it felt like 108…I think I would love to play in the water w/ that hawk!

This made me smile. I think of hawks as remote, noble, wild, fierce–and here’s this one looking a bit abashed, like a lady caught bathing just out of reach of a towel.
