Lichen

Lichen

This Cladonia Bellidiflora lichen was found growing on a post of an old wooden fence at Hartman Creek State Park. The lichen look like miniature flowers, but they have no roots, stems, or leaves. Green alga and a colorless fungus combine to create the Lichen.

  1. Nature just adores colour contrast doesn’t She. I think it is too cold here for lichen though, I just googled Brisbane weather, Forecast 9-19C Present Temp 8C (That’s 46.4, 48.2 & 66.7 in old Money) and the Sun doesn’t get out of Bed for an hour yet so it may get colder – Pity me walking in the beautiful cold bright sunlight later though! LoL
