Twin lens reflex. The top lens serves as the photographer’s viewing eye while the bottom lens is the camera’s taking eye.

I see why they opted for single Lens reflex as the parallax error must have been difficult to adjust for.

My very first camera–given to my be my father when I was five–looked like that. It had a leather case, and one peered down into it to take the photo.

No hot shoe. Flash requires a cable to the socket in the upper right hand corner of the lens board.
