Tradition
State and national parks traditionally contain open viewing towers made of open wooden stairway tiers which lead to a top viewing platform. This tower at Eagle Point County Park near Clinton, IA was described by a couple of locals as “the castle;” and it obviously does not follow the traditional plan.
Wow! That is a cool structure.

Early Norman architecture… I didn’t think William the Conqueror got as far as the states! 😀 We have a few (still used) churches in England, especially in the county I originally come from, with round bell towers and arched windows like that that date back to the 11th century.

There are a number of them in our area, too…phony, but with their own romantic charm.
